Simple ways that you can help preserve the environment!

Did you Know?

  • Toss a plastic bottle in the trash and it will take 700 years to decompose
  • The amount of crude oil used in the US to produce plastic bottle is over 10 million barrels
  • Each minute, American recycle 13 million aluminum cans
  • Recycling a stack of newspapers saves one tree
  • Recycling just one aluminum can can save enough power to run a TV for 3 hours
  • A slow drip can leak 15 to 20 gallons per day
  • Making glass from recycled materials can cut water pollution by 50%

What You can Do!

  • Shop locally. The less your goods travel to you the less fuel consumed
  • Cut the junk mail. Junk mail consumes as much energy as 2.8 million cars on the road
  • Start a recycling program for your home school or office

  • Replace incandescent light bulbs with fluorescent bulbs and save 5% on your energy bill every month
  • Unplug all unused or seldom used electrical equipment. Stop the energy leak
  • Change your commute. A third of all CO2 produced in the US is due to transportation

  • Share what you know about conservation
