Strong Neighborhood Initiative Program

On June 13, 2006 the Stockton City Council took a monumental step to rebuilding Stockton's neighborhoods by approving the Strong Neighborhood Initiative. This initiative includes the sale of $114 million in revenue bonds which will be used strictly within designated Redevelopment Project Areas (Midtown, North Stockton, and South Stockton) to improve neighborhood conditions, enhance community safety, expand community services, and strengthen community partnerships. Approximately $24.5 million will be used for low-income housing projects city-wide.

A major component of the Strong Neighborhoods Initiative is the issuance of Revenue Bonds against Redevelopment tax increment. The Questions and Answers (Q&A) web page explains Redevelopment and how projects are funded.

If you have projects you would like to propose in the Midtown, North Stockton and/or South Stockton Redevelopment Project Areas redevelopment areas please call (209) 937-8538 or email redevelopment@ci.stockton.ca.us.

To receive updates on the Strong Neighborhood Initiative, click here and subscribe to the email list.

Below is a list of projects proposed to be funded with Strong Neighborhood Initiative Redevelopment Bond proceeds*:

North Stockton Projects

       Affordable Housing

Midtown Stockton Projects

South Stockton Projects

       Affordable Housing

*Projects have received preliminary SNI funding priority, but projects still require City Council/Redevelopment Agency approval.
