Louis Park boat ramps close through December

STOCKTON - The boat ramps at Louis Park have closed through December 31 for renovations that will include replacing the two concrete launch lanes with wide lanes, replacing the existing boarding flats and extending the parking lot.

This project will bring the Louis Park Boat Launch facility into compliance with the most recent California Department of Boating and Waterways standards. Improvements will also include measures for controlling stormwater pollution run-off from the paved areas, as well as Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.

The City of Stockton received grant funding for this $734,146 project from the California Department of Boating and Waterways. The August-December timeframe for construction is dictated by State Fish and Game requirements to protect Delta Smelt during its breeding season. The project will be constructed by Odyssey Landscape.

While the boat launch ramps at Louis Park are closed, area boaters can launch seven days a week, 24 hours a day at Buckley Cove or Morelli Park. For information, visit www.stocktongov.com/parks or contact the Stockton Parks and Recreation Department at (209) 937-8206.
