Neighborhood Renaissance Program

The Neighborhoods

Neighborhoods are located within six Service Districts. Service District boundaries match the six existing Police Districts because the main criteria for categorizing neighborhoods is the extent to which public safety issues have been addressed.

Thirty-seven individual neighborhoods were identified within the City limits with industrial areas excluded (see the map below).  The neighborhood boundaries are our best guess based geography, economics, and known police service areas.  These boundaries will likely change as staff works neighborhood residents to better reflect true conditions.

The City’s outreach efforts will start with gathering data about each neighborhood, walking door-to-door and mass mailings and marketing to advertise a kick-off meeting and solicit participation in each Neighborhood Action Committee (NAC).  Language needs will be anticipated and translators will be used for materials and at meetings.   The goal is to involve a balance of community representation on the NAC as well as other community groups, churches, businesses, schools and special interest groups in the planning process.

Partnering with the community is the City's main focus.  Together we can accomplish so much more than apart!  For an interesting article that examines why people are fed up with politics and government, click here.
