Moving Mailboxes
A message from the Post Office
The Post Office will not accept the movement of a delivery point. The
Post Office would refer to this as Delivery Mode change if a delivery
point is moved. We can approve a change if a group of addresses desires
to purchase their own Post Office approved centralized locking mailbox.
A good example of this is a court where there are eight mailboxes in
front of eight homes and mail theft is occurring; the mailboxes may have
been smashed or generally not maintained by the homeowners. The neglect
then is inviting to criminals. Should the group of homes not agree on a
centralized mailbox change, any individual home may purchase an approved
mailbox that offers better security features to replace their existing
mailbox as is frequently done in more rural areas outlying Stockton.
Better grade mailboxes are available on the web or from local hardware
stores.
