Stockton Police Department - Community Policing Program

The Stockton Police Department subscribes to the community policing philosophy and works closely with neighborhood groups and business owners to promote a safer community. Stockton community policing is a neighborhood-based philosophy of full service, personalized policing where the same Officer patrols and works in the same area on a long-term basis, working in a proactive partnership with community members and organizations to identify and solve problems. This approach builds on basic policing practices and emphasizes prevention.

The city is divided into six districts, which allows Police Officers assigned to a particular district the ability to get to know the citizens living there and address crime-related problems by the use of preventative measures. Each district contains areas of high population concentration.

The six police districts in the city of Stockton are the
Bear Creek, Civic Center, Lakeview, Park, Seaport, and Valley Oak Districts. To view a map of the districts, click here. Police Lieutenants are assigned as District Commanders to the six areas.
